ACU’s and all those pockets

Army Combat Uniform. All of our uniforms are multifunctonal. People always say or ask, why all the pockets. Believe it or not, we could use more. It’s not the same on all bases. It depends on the weather and other factors.

In our right calf pocket we carry our reflective belt for at night. If it’s dark out vehicles can’t see us, and sometimes if it’s real dark you can almost walk into another soldier. In our left calf pocket we carry our emergency tourniquet. In my right thigh pocket I carry my cover or cap or Barret. Sometimes I keep a protein bar in that pocket also. In my left thigh pocket I keep some wet ones, they always come in handy. I also keep my sun glasses in that pocket. You wear them even when it’s not sunny to protect your eyes from the dust. In my right hip pocket I keep some money and a knife. In my left hip pocket I keep another knife, ( most of us carry more than one knife for different purposes ) and my keys. I also keep some extra napkins, they also come in handy. In my left chest pocket I keep a note pad and papers and receipts, such as laundry for pick up. In my right chest pocket I keep Chapstick, eye drops, and my cell phone.

We get three meals a day here. If you can’t you shove food where ever you can. People who can’t leave for chow ask us to bring things back, which go into any pockets we can. As you see, we need all of our pockets.

Take care, MAJ B

I finally stumbled upon this gem of a blog. I have an affinity for pockets (I’m like a walking pharmacy!) so I can appreciate your ACU’s many uses! I know you’re getting along well over there, and we all can’t wait to have you back. If you’re training 5 days a week, I can’t imagine how much more jacked you’ve become–if that’s possible!

    Take care,
    Scott

What are Knapkins? Okay, maybe that is what women need…army clothes. I never have enough pockets and I hate carrying a purse.

The cats are coming home today. Aaron tried but they seem to miss the garage and making me sneeze.

The kids will all be here after Christmas. So I will be home with our kids, 5 dogs, 2 cats, fish, and 4 of Danna’s friends staying with us for a few days. Maybe I can fit into one of your pockets.
